Abstract

Since the emergence of COVID-19 in 2020, the world has been grappling with a global pandemic that has upended daily life and had a significant impact on public health and the economy. The World Health Organization declared the outbreak a public health emergency, and it quickly became clear that the virus was highly contagious and could spread rapidly through human contact. While some have attempted to label the pandemic as a “Chinese virus,” it is essential to recognize that the virus has spread globally due to a lack of precautions and attention from individuals and governments. The pandemic has posed significant challenges to the fields of politics and public health, particularly in terms of building trust in prescribed treatments and legitimate responses. Developing co untries have been
disproportionately impacted by the pandemic due to a lack of media coverage and inadequate healthcare infrastructure. However, even well-established and conservative states such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany have struggled to contain the spread of the virus. The SARS-CoV virus has led to a wide range of respiratory and mental health issues worldwide, necessitating coping approaches such as isolation and vaccination.
In summary, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on global health and society. Its origin in China does not justify labeling it as a “Chinese virus,” as it has affected people from all corners of the world. Building trust in prescribed treatments and legitimate responses remains a significant challenge, particularly in the face of vaccine hesitancy. Addressing the mental health consequences of the pandemic is also crucial to achieving a comprehensive and effective response to this global crisis.
